When you have braces, it’s very important to brush and floss after every meal to keep your teeth and gums healthy throughout your orthodontic treatment. Brush 3 times a day to keep gums healthy and avoid damage to the enamel surface. 

When you have braces, it’s very important to brush and floss after every meal to keep your teeth and gums healthy throughout your orthodontic treatment. Brush 3 times a day to keep gums healthy and avoid damage to the enamel surface.  

  1. Take your time and use a soft toothbrush and/or water pick. 
  2. Start brushing in the upper right of your mouth, working your way down to the lower left. 
  3. Pay close attention to the areas around your brackets or other appliances. 
  4. Be sure and brush above and below each bracket using a small circular motion. 
  5. Slowly work your way toward the front and over to the left side.

Flossing can be tough with braces because it takes extra effort! But, healthy gums help move teeth faster! 

Here are steps to floss while wearing braces!

  1. Floss daily with the floss threaders included in your kit. 
  2. Pass floss threader under the main wire
  3. Pull up on the threader to get floss behind the wire.
  4. Gently clean sides of teeth and under the gums with an up-and-down motion
